Instead of doing a December Favorites post I'm just going to mish mash everything together and sum it all up. These were my absolute favorite beauty products for 2009. Some were new finds and some old favorites. A couple are limited edition items, but I'm sure when the time comes I'll be able to find dupes for them (hopefully!).

Left: Mac On A Mission blush. Gorgeous plummy shade!

Right: Milani mineral blush in Mai-Tai. Inexpensive, long-lasting, and highly pigmented. I really can't ask for more.

NYX eyeshadow in Nude. It looks like a frost in the pic, but it's a nice matte.

Mac eyeshadow in Femme Fi. I love to wear this on my lids with Mulch or Texture in the crease.

Mac Mystery eye kohl pencil. I always get compliments when I wear this pencil.

Mac Stillife paint. I often use this as a all over eyeshadow base when I'm in a hurry.

Mac Young Thing lipglass. This gloss is basically C-Thru with sparkles in it.

Quick Drugstore Haul

Can you believe I got all this for under $18.00 at Walgreens? One by my house was having this major cosmetics sale and I was lucky enough to scoop up some great buys (and new favorites). I think this particular location might be purging it's Milani because it's not going to carry it anymore.

First: Milani Sun Goddess e/s is a great dupe for Mac's Amberlights.

Middle: Milani Shock e/s.

Last: Milani Java Bean e/s.

I haven't worn these on the eyes yet, but Java Bean and Sun Goddess swatched very smoothly. Shock had a slightly gritty glittery texture and kinda reminded me of a lustre eyeshadow.

Top: Milani Easyliner for lips in Most Natural.

Bottom: Milani Easyliner for lips in Sugar Plum.

Most Natural is now my official new fave nude lip liner. It doesn't look like much on the swatch...looks like an average nude liner...but I paired it with Mac's C-Thru lipglass and it was instant love! I'm definitely going to grab a couple more.

Sugar Plum which looks really red in the pic is actually a rich deep plummy burgundy. I paired it with Mac's On Display lipglass and once again had a winner. Absolutely gorgeous. I tend to shy away from deep lip colors, but I'm definitely going to be sportin' this combo.

I didn't even bother to swatch the Sweet Jelly sheer lipglosses (Sweetie and Tasty) because they're basically clear glosses with a hint of tint in them. They taste yummy, but that's about it. Glad I only paid around a dollar each for them.

I bought Amethyst Mist to add a little sparkle to my tips and toes. It has a slight purple tint to it, but really shows up clear. I saw a real cute tutorial on YouTube using a sparkly topcoats and I wanna try it.

I LOVE Milk Chocolate! Sometimes I just like to throw on a easy, neutral polish that will go with everything and chips won't be that noticeable? It's basically a beige-y brown that melts into my skin tone, but I like it anyway. Guess I'll be embracing the "mannequin" hands trend this season?

MiniMishMash gave BabyMishMash a "makeover" and here are the results! My advice? She needs to work a little on her blending--ha,ha!! Needless to say BabyMishMash was very happy with her makeover. She didn't even care she had lipstick all over her teeth!

Fave Pink Lip Combo!

Mac's Half-Red lip pencil plus Rimmel's Airy Fairy lipstick equals my new fave pink lip combo!

Airy Fairy lipstick is a tad too light for my liking by itself, so I tweaked it a little by pairing it with Half-Red. The result is a beautiful slightly deeper pink color that looks fantastic with pink cheeks!

A Second Glance...

...So, I passed by another Mac counter today and took another glance at Mac's new winter collections.

The Lily Pulitzer collection which is respectively called Lilyland still did nothing for me.

The Warm & Cozy collection (the one that I was calling Soft & Beautiful the other day...oops!) still didn't make me feel warm and toasty inside.

I really wanted to see the four eye shadows from the Love Lace collection that were all sold out at the first counter I went to (they didn't even have testers of the shades either?!). I ended up picking up Suave Intentions and Love Lace which are gorgeous greyed blues. I don't have any shades in my collection like this so this sort of "justified" my purchase. But now I feel like I need some deep blue shades to compliment them. So, now I've got Prussian and Plumage eye shadows on my Never-Ending-Beauty-Wishlist.

Mac describes Suave Intentions as a " light frosted silver blue" and Love Lace as a "frosted mid-tone grey-ish blue".

Gorgeous, huh?

Spring 2010 is going to be awesome!!

There are soo many incredible spring collections coming out, I've got to start saving my pennies now so I can have fun later.

All I have to say about the Bobbi Brown Spring 2010 Cabana Coral collection is that I want one of everything!! Just kidding, but I'm really lemming for the Nectar shimmerbrick!! I also can't wait to see the metallic lip colors, pot rouge, and shimmer lip glosses in person.

Nars Spring 2010 has a product called the Super Illuminator that looks like it's going to be a excellent highlighter.

Alice in Wonderland fans will be happy to see the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Alice in Wonderland Edition. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Urban Decay eye shadows because I've found them to be too frosty and glittery for me, but I'm anxious to see what finishes the limited edition shadows will have.

And of course I can't forget Mac. Mac's got soo many new collections coming out, but there's one that calls to me the most. It's the Mac Spring Colour Forecast collection and it's HUGE!! With four different color collections there is something for everyone!! The pink and purple collections call out to me the most, but there are also some lippies and eye shadows in the yellow and orange collections that appeal to me.

...So this is what I'm looking forward to this spring. What spring collections have got you salivating?

Grey Smokey (-ish) Eye with a Teal Twist

Here's what I wore on Christmas Day. I attempted a smokey eye and was pleasantly surprised with it. I've always considered myself "smokey-eye impaired" because my past attempts have always had me looking like I literally had black eyes, but I guess it's all about placement. I tried to "soften" up the smokey look by using teal on the bottom lashes instead of black. Navy, electric blue, burgundy, or even a vibrant purple would have looked nice too.

Face to Face with Feline

...So I finally got a chance to check out Mac's infamous Feline kohl power eye pencil.

I've heard soo many people rave about this Limited Edition eye pencil, that I literally thought it must have some kind of magical power for people to buy like 5 backups whenever it's re released.

...So while perusing the mall the other day, I stopped at a Mac counter to see it face to face. I'm not a "black eye liner" type of girl. I own one black eyeliner and only wear it once in awhile (hence my recent smokey-ish eye post). I have avoided black eyeliners like the plague since seeing them often gives me horrible flashbacks of the raccoon eyes I used to wear in my teens and twenties. Let's just say...I thought I looked F-A-B-O, when in actuality I looked a hot black-eyed mess!!

All that changed yesterday with one swipe of Feline. It is the creamiest, blackest, black eye liner I have ever seen! I suddenly found myself envisioning sexy, smouldering looks that I could do with it. I don't see myself giving up my colored eye liners or buying 10 backups of Feline, but I can now see why people love this eye pencil so much.

Mac Warm & Cozy shadestick, Mac Mythology eyeshadow, Mac Feline kohl power eye pencil (one swipe). I also picked up a shadestick from Mac's new winter collection (which I can't remember the name of). I think it's called Soft & Beautiful or something to that effect?? The shadestick is called Warm & Cozy and it's a gorgeous metallic coppery shade with tiny teeny glitters in it. It reminds me of Mythology which is one of my fave Mac eye shadows.

Not much stood out to me from the three Mac collections that were there. No must-haves...only nice-to-haves which means I don't really need them. The Lily Pulitzer collection didn't really do anything for me. The cream blushes were kinda pretty, but I'm not gonna die if I don't have them. All of the paint pots were permanent and I didn't care for the eyeshadow trio or the face powder thingy. My daughters loved the bright, sparkly lip gelees, but I can live without them. And I can't even think of the name of the collection which had the Feline pencil in it? I do know all four eye shadows in it were sold out. If I go back for anything it will be the 3N lip glass which is a nice nude brown color. What have you been hauling from Mac's winter collections? Fall in love with anything?

Beautiful, fluffy, sparkly pure white snow!

Urban Decay Hall of Fame

Dina Diva also picked up this set while we were at Sephora. I'm not going to do a review on this set, I will just tell you though it's a great set for the Urban Decay newbie or Urban Decay groupie!!

For $29.00 you get a XL Primer Potion that's about 60% more than their regular-sized version and you get four mini-sized favorites.

Left to right (sort of): Primer Potion XL, 24/7 Glide-On pencil in Zero, Pocket Rocket lip gloss in Timothy, Skyscraper Multi-Benefit mascara, and Midnight Cowboy lipstick.

Left to right: Midnight Cowboy lipstick and Rocket Pocket lip gloss in Timothy. Isn't Midnight Cowboy delish? Sheer, shimmery nude goodness. It's now officially on my beauty wish list. And Timothy is pretty, too. I love corally pink glosses.

Dina Diva has got her eye on some Kat Von D. lip glosses, so if she picks them up, I will be sure to do a post on them.

Too Faced Glamour Revolution palette Part 2

I think the highlight of this palette are the eyeshadows and mini shadow insurance primer.

The La Vie en Rose blush is a bright pale pink that I think will only compliment light/fair skin tones. Anyone with a medium/dark skin tone will probably have to use it as an eyeshadow.

The Chocolate Soleil matte bronzing powder is another product in this palette that you need to be light/fair for it to show up. And I think that you'd have to be very light handed or you'd end up looking "dirty". Dina Diva will probably have to use this as an eyeshadow (if possible), or just skip it, because I know it won't show up on her. On the plus side, though, it smells just like hot chocolate!!

I didn't swatch the lip glosses because I know I'd hate for some one's grubby little fingers playing in my brand new glosses. I've never tried Too Faced's lip glosses soo I really can't give you my take on them. I'll have to ask Dina Diva later on if she liked them.

The eye shadows!

My faves of the nine shadows are George & Weezie (a light gold), Label Whore (a green-brown duo chrome that reminds me of Mac's Club), Dirt Bag (a deep blackened burgundy that's infused with gold), and Neptune (a bright, electric turquoise blue).

There were three shadows that personally did nothing for me: Milk Chocolate, London Calling, and Glamazon.

Milk Chocolate, a light matte brown applied chalky and seemed to be a misfit in the palette. I didn't see one other color that I would pair it with it.

London Calling, a golden champagne, was too frosty for me and Glitter Bomb City!! Yes, I know that's funny coming from someone who just the other day posted a sparkly eye look with glitter in it, but I'm not a fan of eye shadows that have big chunks of glitter in them. I prefer to have my eye shadows and glitter separately. Silly, but true.

Glamazon, a pale pink, that was also a glitter bomb and too frosty.

Boy Toy(a light pink) is a nice addition that will balance out deeper shades like Dirt Bag. Party Girl (a vibrant purple) is sure to make a statement by it's self or paired with Neptune.

The mini shadow insurance is, of course, great to have and the perfect size for travel.

Too Faced Glamour Revolution palette Part 1

One reason I love to go shopping with other people is that I get to check out all the different items that they buy. My sis and I have totally different makeup tastes, so it's always interesting to see what she picks up when she's beauty shopping.

While at Sephora the other day she bought the Too Faced Glamour Revolution palette. It's packed with nine eye shadows, a mini shadow insurance eyeshadow primer, a blush, a bronzer, three lip glosses, three face charts, and is $39.50. Dina Diva was supposed to do a review on it for me, but being the busy working gal that she is, she hasn't had time and you'll have to suffice with my rough overview. :)

The shades are housed in a book-style paper box that opens up. There's a little mirror on the left side of the box and the face charts, lip glosses, blush, and bronzer on the right. A little black ribbon pulls out the "drawer" of eye shadows and mini shadow insurance eyeshadow primer.

I was pleasantly surprized when I opened up my mailbox and spied these beauties on the January 2010 covers on two of my fave mags: Essence and InStyle!

Whitney Houston looks happy and healthy at age 46 and talks about her music comeback in the InStyle magazine issue. It's soo good to see her back on top since my last memories of her were when she was on the Bobbi Brown reality show--I'm not even going to go there...

Anika Noni Rose, (who btw looks absolutely gorgeous in her barely-there makeup palette), talks about what it's been like being Disney's first African-American princess in the brand new movie The Princess and the Frog. I'm definitely going to take my kiddies to see this monumental movie!

Essence's article with Anika Noni Rose (and others) is insightful and down to earth. My daughters have played princess for years and now it's nice that they can see Princess Tiana and can identify with her on the big screen.

Also, Disney's A Princess and the Frog have collaborated with Carol's Daughter and made a special Limited Edition collection for your little Princess Tiana. The collection contains:

Color I'm Lovin' Right Now!

Blackened taupe!!

I know it's the holiday season and every one's busting out berry pinks and merry reds, but I've fell in love again with some of the sparkly neutrals in my stash.

I think it has alot to do with the fact that I recently colored my hair a golden bronze shade and have had to adjust my makeup a bit.

Please excuse the silly fingers on the lip thing...I have no idea why I was doing that!!

I applied Mac Reflects Antique Gold glitter just on my lid. (I will warn you I don't know if it's eye safe or not?? I've never had any problemos with it, but, you never know...I recommend ya find out before ya apply any glittery eye product) I very lightly blended Mac's Mythology e/s in and above my crease and a dab Mac's Folie e/s on my outer crease. I used Mac's Orpheus kohl power pencil on my lower lashline. Mac's On A Mission blush is on my cheeks and I ended up wearing Mac's What A Do! lipstick on my lips. I think all that's missing are some gorgeous falsies--nothing too dramatic to compete with the glitter, but just enough to add a little extra flair. I, myself, am false eyelash challenged, so I didn't use any.

China Glaze's Prize Winning Mare which I think I've posted about before. Love, love, love! It's shimmery, metallic finish keeps this polish from just being another boring, bland taupey brown and it's a universal shade that anyone can rock!

OPI NYPD Beet!!

I've had this polish for a couple years (in fact, I think it may be discontinued by now) and I still love it and rock it! The consistency and color haven't changed over the years (I keep it in a dark, cool place).

Today I accompanied my sis, Dina Diva, on a shopping trip to Providence Place mall in Providence, Rhode Island. It's a gorgeous, three-story mall that houses some of my favorite stores: Tiffany's, Coach, Ann Taylor Loft, Pottery Barn Kids, New York & Company and many, many more...

I loved checking out all the sparkly holiday decorations each store window had and of course, the highlight of the trip (and sole purpose, really) was to go to Sephora...

I didn't pick anything, but Dina Diva did, and she'll be doing a guest review soon on the Too Faced and Urban Decay goodies she copped.

When I told her my computer was acting up, she came over to take a look at it and lo and behold, got it back running.

I'm sooo happy because the computer doctors were talking about it costing 200 buck-a-roos to diagnose and repair it. This time of year I can think of soo many other things I'd like to do with that money...

Anywho, I'm glad my no-computer-boredom only lasted a couple days.

My computer is sick!

I was minding my own business surfing the net and picked up a nasty virus that is making my computer act crazy and crash...

...So, I'm not going to be able to blog until I can take it to the computer doctor. I hope to be back sometime after the new year so I'd just like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season and Happy New Year!!

It's only been a couple days since my computer craziness started and I have to say I don't know what I'm going to do without my computer!! I use it for everything: weather reports, store sales, communicating with friends and family, youtube, etc...and of course getting my daily dose of beauty news from the blogs I follow.

I am soo bored without my computer!!!!!!!!

...I'm going to try follow everyone's blogs whenever I can borrow my sis's laptop...until then, I'll be back next year(*boo hoo*).

Ins and Outs

The holidays. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season! I surely am!! I had a blast at Thanksgiving with family & friends and am sooo looking forward to Christmas (my favorite holiday of the year)!!!!!!!!!! My family will be putting up the X-mas tree this weekend while we bake sugar cookies and make Christmas cards to send to loved ones. My kiddos are also going to be in my cities local Christmas parade, so not only will the holiday season be busy this year, it'll be fun too!
Black Friday. I did my first Black Friday shopping this year and was pleasantly surprised--no stampedes or nasty aggressive shoppers, and everything I planned to get was in stock. What more can you ask for?
Spring Collections are popping up left and right! I totally feeling Bobbi Brown's Cabana Coral Collection. I soo want all the metallic lippies, the shimmer lip glosses, and the Nectar Shimmer Brick (...soo not gonna happen, but a gal can dream...)!! China Glaze's Up & Away Collection has got me ready to bust out some capris and sandals! My top 3 polish picks in this collection are Lemon Fizz, Re-Freshmint, and Peachy Keen.
2010. New Year's Eve is less than a month away! Geez, this year sure went by fast for me--what about you? I'm looking forward to a brand new year. I love making new year resolutions--even if I break half of them within the first month-LOL.

Being sick! Luckily no one in my family has gotten the flu this season, but we've had our share of the sniffles.
I'm presently sick of my hair...it happens every now and then...Having short natural hair has it's advantages (healthy, low maintenance) and it's disadvantages (kinda boring after awhile). I don't like to spend a lot of time on my hair--I'm pretty much a jump-in-the-shower-and-go-kind-of-girl when it comes to hair, but I'm feeling the need for some serious hair changes...

...Well, these are my Ins and Outs....

October/November Favorites 09

...So, here's what I've been wearing alot lately...

mark. good glowing blushes in After Glo *some people have compared this as a dupe for Nars's Orgasm (top) and Cameo (bottom).

I luv them because they're cheap (about $7), nicely pigmented for the price, and great neutral colors I can just throw on in a hurry.

e.l.f. Hypershine Glosses. I keep all three of these babies in my purse. Once my "color of the day" has worn off, I usually just throw one of these on. Candlelight, the light peach shade, is my favorite as you can see.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara. It took me awhile to finally get this mascara because I was finishing up a couple others, but since I finally have, I've got to say I really like it. It transforms my straight, sparse lashes into long lush beauties. LOVES IT!!

Coastal Scents gel liners in 24 kt and Peach Bellini. I use these as washes of color on my lids. They last all day and don't smudge or fade. I wanna pick up a couple of the new shades: Exotic, Summerfun, Feline, Stellar, and a couple more.

As much as I love China Glaze polishes, I have to admit that I get chips within two or three days when I wear their polishes. I use their Strong Adhesive Base coat and still have chipping issues.

...So, I've been reaching for some of my OPI's. I find I don't get as many chips and instead just get fading of my tips. Three of my all-time fave OPI polishes are Vampire State Building, NYPD Beet (I don't even know if these two are still available), and of course cult-favorite I'm Not Really A Waitress.

I also love Cajun Shrimp, Bogota Blackberry, Jewel of India, and Chick Flick Cherry. Well, these are my favorites...What are yours?

Prescriptives Going, Going...Gone?

Am I the last to know this?

I had no idea that Prescriptives was going to be closing down shop!? I learned today that they will be closing in early 2010.

Where am I going to get my perfect, blends-right-into-my skin tone, Virtual Youth foundation in Smooth Tan anymore?

As a woman of color this has been one of the only cosmetics company that I knew I could find a foundation that would match my skin tone flawlessly. I didn't have to worry about this foundation oxidizing and fading into a chalky-gray ghoulish mess or it having red or pink undertones in it. It was just perfection. Prescriptives has been my holy grail foundation company for over ten years.

I guess I'm going to have to try and snag a bottle or two before January and it's obsolete. However, I'm wondering if all the overstock will be sent to CCO's and I'll be safe...for awhile anyways....

I received this as a gift and thought I'd share it with you because it's the purr-fect stocking stuffer!

For those of you who don't know, Stila first started off with just the Kitten eyeshadow. It was such a popular universally flattering peachy, champagne shade that they made it into a lip gloss, liquid eyeshadow, and smudgepot.

Here's what I'm wearing today.

I'm trying to be a good chick-a-dee and shop my stash as much as possible since Christmas is right around the corner (YIKES!!!) and I haven't bought one single present for anybody yet...

I was inspired to use this L'Oreal HIP duo after seeing Clumps Of Mascara do a post on the L'Oreal HIP Sculpted duo. A reader asked her how to make the duo work-friendly. I have the Sculpted and Sassy duos and basically had the same problem. I've played around with both duos and have never worn them out the house--LOL!!

...Let's just say I was a little heavy handed with my application...

I took the Sassy duo out again and this time liked the result (plus I didn't get any crazy looks from the hubbie!).

Here's what I used:

Face:
Prescriptives Virtual Youth foundation in Smooth Tan

Eyes:
L'Oreal HIP cream shadow paint in Lofty (as my base all over lid)
L'Oreal HIP Sassy duo (taupe on lid and blended above crease, teal blended into crease)
Mac kohl power eye pencil in Mystery (on lower lid, under Atlantis eyeshadow)
Ulta Mineral Powder eye shadow in Atlantis (blended on top of Mystery eye pencil)
mark. make it big mascara in Raven

Cheeks:
mark. good glowing blush in Cameo

Lips:
Avon Ultra Luxury lip liner in Shimmer Mauve
NYC Liquid Lip Shine in clear glitter lip gloss (the name/# of gloss fell off)

Unfortunately, my camera doesn't do justice to the NYC lip gloss and show all the glitter! :( This is one of my favorite cheap glosses to throw on top of lip pencils or lipsticks for a little sparkle.
