October/November Favorites 09

...So, here's what I've been wearing alot lately...

mark. good glowing blushes in After Glo *some people have compared this as a dupe for Nars's Orgasm (top) and Cameo (bottom).

I luv them because they're cheap (about $7), nicely pigmented for the price, and great neutral colors I can just throw on in a hurry.

e.l.f. Hypershine Glosses. I keep all three of these babies in my purse. Once my "color of the day" has worn off, I usually just throw one of these on. Candlelight, the light peach shade, is my favorite as you can see.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara. It took me awhile to finally get this mascara because I was finishing up a couple others, but since I finally have, I've got to say I really like it. It transforms my straight, sparse lashes into long lush beauties. LOVES IT!!
Coastal Scents gel liners in 24 kt and Peach Bellini. I use these as washes of color on my lids. They last all day and don't smudge or fade. I wanna pick up a couple of the new shades: Exotic, Summerfun, Feline, Stellar, and a couple more.

CS Peach Bellini gel liner on the top. CS 24kt gel liner on the bottom.

As much as I love China Glaze polishes, I have to admit that I get chips within two or three days when I wear their polishes. I use their Strong Adhesive Base coat and still have chipping issues.
...So, I've been reaching for some of my OPI's. I find I don't get as many chips and instead just get fading of my tips. Three of my all-time fave OPI polishes are Vampire State Building, NYPD Beet (I don't even know if these two are still available), and of course cult-favorite I'm Not Really A Waitress.
I also love Cajun Shrimp, Bogota Blackberry, Jewel of India, and Chick Flick Cherry. Well, these are my favorites...What are yours?

Prescriptives Going, Going...Gone?

Am I the last to know this?

I had no idea that Prescriptives was going to be closing down shop!? I learned today that they will be closing in early 2010.

Where am I going to get my perfect, blends-right-into-my skin tone, Virtual Youth foundation in Smooth Tan anymore?

As a woman of color this has been one of the only cosmetics company that I knew I could find a foundation that would match my skin tone flawlessly. I didn't have to worry about this foundation oxidizing and fading into a chalky-gray ghoulish mess or it having red or pink undertones in it. It was just perfection. Prescriptives has been my holy grail foundation company for over ten years.

I guess I'm going to have to try and snag a bottle or two before January and it's obsolete. However, I'm wondering if all the overstock will be sent to CCO's and I'll be safe...for awhile anyways....

*sniff, sniff*

Sinful Colors Nail Junkie

This nail polish called out my name as soon as I saw it!!

It totally describes my obsession with nail polish--Nail Junkie!

It's in one of my favorite polish finishes--JELLY!

It's got tons of beautiful, sparkly iridescent glitter in it!!

And it's a brilliant turquoise blue!!

Loves it!!

Stila Kitten Collection

I received this as a gift and thought I'd share it with you because it's the purr-fect stocking stuffer!

For those of you who don't know, Stila first started off with just the Kitten eyeshadow. It was such a popular universally flattering peachy, champagne shade that they made it into a lip gloss, liquid eyeshadow, and smudgepot.

The Stila Kitten Collection has a full-sized Kitten eyeshadow and a full sized Kitten Lip Glaze in it and it's only $18.00!!

I recommend this gift set for Kitten lovers or even people who've never tried Stila. Kitten is truly one of those fabulous nude shades that suits any and every skin tone.

I'd run to Sephora or Stila.com right now and get one while their still available!

The lip gloss and eyeshadow (which comes in a plastic clam shell) come wrapped in navy blue tissue paper.

The top of the box has a little To and From section. The price tag is a sticker that can easily be removed.

GORGEOUS-NESS!! Looks even better on the lips!

Purr-fect as a soft wash of color on the lids. Or you could make it super smexy and pair it with winged black eyeliner and dramatic false lashes. The choice is yours...

Sassy Gal

Here's what I'm wearing today.

I'm trying to be a good chick-a-dee and shop my stash as much as possible since Christmas is right around the corner (YIKES!!!) and I haven't bought one single present for anybody yet...

I was inspired to use this L'Oreal HIP duo after seeing Clumps Of Mascara do a post on the L'Oreal HIP Sculpted duo. A reader asked her how to make the duo work-friendly. I have the Sculpted and Sassy duos and basically had the same problem. I've played around with both duos and have never worn them out the house--LOL!!

...Let's just say I was a little heavy handed with my application...

I took the Sassy duo out again and this time liked the result (plus I didn't get any crazy looks from the hubbie!).

Here's what I used:

Face:
Prescriptives Virtual Youth foundation in Smooth Tan

Eyes:
L'Oreal HIP cream shadow paint in Lofty (as my base all over lid)
L'Oreal HIP Sassy duo (taupe on lid and blended above crease, teal blended into crease)
Mac kohl power eye pencil in Mystery (on lower lid, under Atlantis eyeshadow)
Ulta Mineral Powder eye shadow in Atlantis (blended on top of Mystery eye pencil)
mark. make it big mascara in Raven

Cheeks:
mark. good glowing blush in Cameo

Lips:
Avon Ultra Luxury lip liner in Shimmer Mauve
NYC Liquid Lip Shine in clear glitter lip gloss (the name/# of gloss fell off)

Unfortunately, my camera doesn't do justice to the NYC lip gloss and show all the glitter! :( This is one of my favorite cheap glosses to throw on top of lip pencils or lipsticks for a little sparkle.

Ta da!! Ready to hit the mean streets!!

Blooper and Blunder FOTD

I was bored and decided to do one of my favorite things---play in makeup!!

I was inspired by all of the beautiful gold, red, and orange autumn leaves outside and used those shades.

I wasn't happy with the end result but decided to post it anyway. I would have liked it more if I had brought up the red shade higher into the crease and gave it some shape...and I should have also lined my upper eyelid with the black eyeliner to balance out the bottom lid....anyways, here's what I used:

Eyes:
Jessie's Girl eye dust in a rusty, reddish shade (with no name) on the lid
Jessie's Girl Penny Arcade eye dust blended into the crease
NYX's nude blended under my brow
L'Oreal HIP's cream eyeliner in Black on my lower lid and waterline
Avon Superfull mascara in Black

Cheeks:
Mac Fun & Games blush

Lips:
Mac Ramblin Rose lipstick
Mac Pink Grapefruit lipglass

Color Tag!

I was tagged by Caramel Diva for the color tag. I had to find 8 green things and post them. To tell the truth, this wasn't that easy for me.

I don't own a lot of green...here's what I found:

1. Eyeshadows from Coastal Scent 88 original palette. I haven't worn them because they're super bright, but I got an idea from The Recessionista to make them more wearable. She did a great post on the Coastal Scents 56 Blush & Eye palette and showed how to blend different shades together to get great Mac and Urban Decay dupes.

2. Kiddie cup.
3. Kiddie meal tray.

4. Avon perfume.
5. Address book.
6. Kelly green shirt.

7. Art supplies.

8. China Glaze Emerald Sparkle nail polish. I found a green polish that I love, love, love!! It's got all the sparkly, shimmery, glittery goodness of Ruby Pumps---it's just green!
I'm going to be super lazy and not tag anyone specifically....and just invite anyone who wants to do it. The color that I've choosen is PINK!!!!

Dear Santa

It's that time of year again! My kids are all excited about the holidays and so am I. They aren't the only ones making Santa a list. I've got one too! Small and modest compared to other years, but I'll still be happy to get everything on my list.

  • Coastal Scents 88 warm palette. I've got a couple CS palettes, two I use alot(88 original and 88 shimmer) and two others that just collect dust because their textures are hard to blend...Well, when I heard about the new 88 warm palette I immediately wanted it! 88 warm toned shades!! Mattes and shimmers!! Grays, browns, pinks, peaches, creams, khakis, and blacks in one palette!! Need it? Of course not. I already own many neutral shades. Want it? Yes, yes, yes!!!
  • Stila kajal eyeliner in Topaz. I've wanted a naturalish-looking brightener for my waterline for awhile. I usually use Urban Decay's YeYo, but find that this white pencil sometimes looks too harsh and unnatural. I saw Stila's Topaz eyeliner and thought it would be perfect since it's a apricoty-nude shade.
  • Mac Sexy Shanigans lipgloss set---First of all I love the name and second it's pink, pink, pink, pink! Great little sets!

What's on your Dear Santa beauty list?

The Midas Touch

My favorite polish combo right now! China Glaze's Twenty-Four K and Cleopatra from the Glitters and Chrome collection! Love, love, love!!

What's on your nails?
